If you need flooring that can withstand humid or wet environments, then waterproof flooring could be your solution. Waterproof vinyl flooring offers all of the benefits of laminate and vinyl, but also blocks water and moisture from soaking into the floor’s core.

Waterproof Flooring Benefits

Waterproof flooring has plenty of benefits. The first one, is its solid waterproof core with a locking system that makes it easy to install directly on a subfloor. It also doesn’t need an underlayment. As a result, you can install waterproof flooring in spaces that have uneven subfloors.

Plus, its water resistance makes it a great flooring choice for basements, bathrooms, laundry rooms and kitchens where water leaks are possible. Mold and mildew are a risk in moist environments, such as basements.

Waterproof flooring also has these benefits:

  • Resists water damage
  • Durable
  • Easy to maintain and clean
  • Stands up well to abuse
  • More comfortable to walk on than tile

Waterproof Flooring Layers

Waterproof flooring products consists of four layers:

  • Backing that provides the base of the flooring
  • The core that is water resistant
  • The top printed layer (aka the “picture” layer)
  • Protective coating as the top layer
