You have many choices when it comes to flooring! This post takes a closer look at the benefits of vinyl flooring, such as its durability, affordability, versatility, comfort and maintenance.

Durable and Affordable

Homeowners often select vinyl flooring for its durability and affordability. You’ll see vinyl floors in kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements. Vinyl lasts a long time and costs less than ceramic tile or hardwood, but can look similar. It can handle plenty of traffic and often includes manufacturer warranties. Vinyl flooring can last 20 years or longer if it’s installed correctly.

Versatility

Vinyl is available in a variety of colors, patterns and designs. It comes in sheet flooring (like you’ve probably seen) as well as individual plank or tiles known as Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT), or Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP). Vinyl can even mimic the look of tile, slate, marble, wood and other popular patterns. LVT and LVP use 3D printing technology to create realistic textured vinyl that looks a lot like tile, slate and wood.

Comfort

Vinyl is a softer surface than wood or tile, so it’s more comfortable on your feet. LVT has an extra layer to prevent scuffs and scratches, and makes it a bit thicker.

Low Maintenance and Easy to Clean

You don’t need to wax, seal or use special products on vinyl floors. You can simply sweep and mop them, which makes them easy to clean and maintain. Plus, LVT and LVP are waterproof! This is why you’ll likely see it in basements, kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms.
